Riband

Variety notes - Winter wheat
« Back

  • Riband is a specific recommendation for the North where it is still highly regarded for distilling.

  • Its yield potential is significantly below the best nabim Group 3 varieties and it has the lowest untreated yield on the List.

  • nabim report that it is suited to soft flour grists.

  • Low specific weight.

  • A slow developing variety.

  • Very susceptible to brown rust and Septoria tritici. Susceptible to Septoria nodorum. This poor disease resistance spectrum requires a robust fungicide treatment.

  • No longer grown in RL trials.

  • Breeder/ UK Agent: RAGT Seeds Ltd (www.ragt.co.uk ).
