Variety notes - Winter Barley
« Back
  • Carat remains a popular two-row feed variety taking around 14% of certified seed production weights in 2007.
  • Treated yield similar to Pearl but 11% below Retriever.
  • Short, stiff straw.
  • Early maturing and with a good specific weight.
  • It has moderately good resistance to Rhynchosporium.
  • Resistant to the common strains of barley mosaic viruses (BaYMV strain 1 and BaMMV).
  • Good samples may be suitable for the pearling market.
