Market Information Cereal Committee - Terms of Reference

It is a committee under the umbrella of the HGCA. It has representatives from all relevant sectors of the industry, Defra and HGCA. Its key objective is to monitor and report on the cereal supply and demand situation. It is an interactive forum whereby views on both supply and demand are discussed against the background of the formal Defra annual supply and demand estimates.

  2. The committee meets quarterly, in March, June, October and December at HGCA in London.
  3. The committee considers and approves the draft text that accompanies the Defra annual supply and demand estimates and monthly usage data, collated by HGCA.

  5. The committee provides Defra and HGCA with strategic guidance on specific statistical issues, such as future data requirements and feedback on current data and its interpretation.
  6. The committee includes representatives from all the major producing, trading and consuming sectors of the industry as well as HGCA and Defra.
