Flagon is a malting variety approved by IBD for brewing use. It offers the maltster higher extracts than Pearl with improved processing and it increased its share of the winter malting barley market to 23% last year.

Has long straw of moderate strength, requiring careful management.

Has a good spectrum of leaf disease resistance with good resistance to Rhynchosporium and moderately good resistance to mildew, yellow rust and brown rust.
