Farmhouse Breakfast Week has once again been a huge success, demonstrating to everyone the importance of eating a healthy balance breakfast and the wealth of breakfast produce available across the UK. The campaign has continued to receive fantastic support from third parties, with over 1,700 hundred events taking place across the country, and has generated a wide range of coverage in national, regional and online media. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this year's campaign, helping to make Farmhouse Breakfast Week 2010 such a great success!

HGCA are helping to raise awareness of the nutritional and culinary properties of rapeseed oil. Rapeseed is one of the healthiest vegetable oils due to its balance of fatty acids, and is a good choice for people who are trying to improve and control their blood cholesterol levels.

Enterprise Awards

The HGCA Enterprise Awards scheme supports innovation with grain by providing funding of up to £50,000.  Funding can be used to support new product development or the development of new markets, either in the UK or abroad.  For further information about the Enterprise Awards click here 

Provenance

Although relatively few cereal products currently have strong links with provenance, new HGCA research has revealed significant opportunities to open new markets, add value, and increase margins in the cereals sector.

What are Cereals?

Say the word "cereal" and most people think of breakfast. In fact, cereals are defined as the edible seeds or grains of the grass family, gramineae and they make up a very important part of our daily diet, not only at breakfast time! About a third of the energy and a third of the protein in a typical British diet come from cereals. More information can be found here
